Introduction
The oil and gas business is the most sensitive business due to fluctuation of
crude oil and natural gas price that driven by many external environment
factors. In addition, the internal factor of an oil and gas company needs to
adjust to generate suitable and most fit strategy. Therefore, understand the
external and internal environment factors where the company operates are the key
success to have the right strategy.
This training covers definition of the strategic management environment; the
relationship between culture and the strategic environment; exploring different
organizational contexts, including the public sector and not?for?profit;
approaches to understanding the strategic business environment; analyzing and
interpreting the wide external environment; analyzing and interpreting the
operating and competitive environment; analyzing and interpreting the internal
organizational environment; understanding level of strategy and strategy
formation; outside and inside strategy view, strategy transformation in an oil
& gas company.
Aims
To provide an understanding to the strategic management environment and set
the context for comprehensive study of strategic management in oil& gas
contexts. To explore key constituents of the strategic management environment in
Oil & Gas Industry. To develop knowledge of and skills in the interpretation
of the strategic management environment through an exploration of approaches and
techniques which contribute to complex problem identification in uncertain and
dynamic business environments; Levels of strategy and the paradox of
globalisation and localization in Oil & Gas Industry; Strategy Formation:
the paradox of deliberateness and emergence in Oil and Gas Industry; Outside-in:
the competitive view Inside-out: The Resource-based view.
Outcome
On completion of this training, participants are expected to be able to:
- Interrogate and interpret the key constituents of the strategic management
environment, evaluating the implications for organizational design and
strategic development
- Evaluate the relationship between the strategic environment and choice and
decision?making options for strategic managers
